Canadian Lorenzo Mandarino was back in SCCA Formula Russell Championship action this weekend and came away with another victory for his growing resume. Competing in the second round of the popular open wheel series at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., the 19 year-old focused on speed and consistency all weekend to complete this pre-season program with three podiums. The event went well despite trying weather, resulting in two poles, an impressive Saturday victory and a disappointing mechanical DNF on Sunday. |

Leading kart racer Lorenzo Mandarino will return to the SCCA Formula Russell Championship this weekend for the second round of the competitive open-wheel series, which is run at the popular Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. The Canadian will compete in two races through the Saturday-Sunday event and will be looking to match his victorious outing at the opening round of the program. In the debut weekend of the series back in February, Mandarino showed very well, taking a pair of podium finishes that included a Saturday victory. This time around, a sweep of his respective mains will be the ultimate goal. |

SONOMA, CA – Top Canadian kart racer Lorenzo Mandarino enjoyed a victorious outing at Infineon Raceway this past weekend (Feb. 11-12) during the opening rounds of the SCCA Formula Russell Championship. Focused on gaining more open-wheel experience for his eventual full-time graduation to car racing, the 19 year-old impressed the paddock with a new level of maturity and poise. Mandarino scored a win in the opening main of the weekend events and then took a steady third on Sunday in a less-than-stellar car. |

When SuperSunday began, the EKN staff was unanimous in our predications that the only thing that could stop Ron White (TopKart) was some form of trouble. As the SuperPro field assembled on the grid, all looked in order when, just before the green light came on, White’s kart lurched forward and then nearly stalled. Lorenzo Mandarino (CRG) pounced on the opening, taking the holeshot as the field worked to get around White, who was able to keep the fire going in his SwedeTech Pavesi. Slotting into second was Gary Carlton (Trackmagic) with Ryan Phinny (Birel) in third. |

Genesis Racing is pleased to announce a powerhouse lineup for this year's 2005 Stars of Karting Western Series. Genesis will be fielding drivers in the three top categories.
In ICC competition, Lorenzo Mandarino will be joining the CRG/Maxter supported team as well as continuing with his season in the Skip Barber National Series. Having Mandarino behind the wheel of the CRG/Maxter ride and Genesis behind the program, there is a great potential for race wins and championship title. With this acquisition, the attitude at the Genesis camp is one of great motivation and determination to succeed in 2005 shifter competition. Genesis' Steve Rickman will be working with Lorenzo throughout the season. Rickman has over 14 years of karting competition experience including several Stars events. |
