 2005 SKUSA SuperNationals winner and current Star Mazda series front runner Lorenzo Mandarino scored his second victory of the season in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear. Mandarino took the lead in the closing stages of the event and went on to take the checkers at Road Atlanta.
In Thursday afternoons qualifying session the British Columbia resident claimed the outside pole position and a strong starting spot on the outside of the front row. With a majority of the drivers setting their quick times earlier in the run, Mandarino worked on the setup of his Newway Forming Team G.FRO Pro Mazda to turn his quick time on lap eleven. Looking to advance his position in the race, Mandarino and crew went to work to improve the car for Friday. |

 After competing overseas in the CIK-FIA KZ1 World Cup race with Intrepid France, Canadian pilot Lorenzo Mandarino traveled back to North America to compete in the final round of the Snap-on Stars of Karting finale at Moran Raceway in Beaumont, California.
After testing with the Champion Racing / Leading Edge Motorsports Intrepid program in previous months, Mandarino was able to secure two top ten results at the ultra fast Moran Raceway. After qualifying fifth in Saturday morning’s Intercontinental C (ICC) time trial session the talented Mandarino scored a sixth place result in the prefinal before advancing forward in the main event to score a strong top five result in fifth. |

Lorenzo Mandarino scored his first Star Mazda Championship win on Saturday, taking the victory in Round Four at Miller Motorsports Park. Standing alongside the Northwest Autosport pilot in the victory lane celebrations were James Davison and Jonathan Goring. |

Northwest Autosport has announced that young Canadian driver Lorenzo Mandarino will join recently signed Northwest Autosport drivers Phill Fogg Jr. and Eric Freiberg for a two day test at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on February 26 and 27.
Mandarino, from Vancouver, British Columbia, has been impressive wherever he has competed winning his first championship at the age of 10 in WKA karting. He has gone on to capture additional karting championships in the United States and Canada and has also found success behind the wheel of formula cars, capturing the 2003 Jim Russell Racing School Graduate Run-Offs and finishing second in the 2004 Skip Barber Run-Offs behind eventual series champion Gerardo Bonilla. |

Canadian kart racer Lorenzo Mandarino ended his 2006 Stars of Karting season on a high-note last weekend when he scored an impressive victory in the headline ICC class at the series’ National Finals at the Woodbine Racetrack & Casino temporary circuit in Toronto, ON. The Burnaby, BC resident capped off an up-and-down season with a victory in the main event, his first Stars win on home soil.
The KLS Racing team driver began the weekend as the man to beat early on in his George Barks TM-powered GP, as he was the only driver to record a lap time under the 43-second barrier in the two timed sessions at the end of Friday’s practice day. On Saturday morning, a rain-shower swept through the Toronto area, putting the drivers on rain tires for the morning warm-up sessions. As the track dried out and the sun returned, the track got quicker and quicker leading up to ICC qualifying. When the fast ICC group hit the track, times dropped a full second for some drivers. Mandarino came in fifth quickest, four-tenths off the fast lap. |
